I have no previous experience of such products, so have nothing to compare it with. Having said that, it is easy to use and produces very useful pictures of possible kitchens and bathroom. Beats graph paper and the backs of envelopes. It's more for those who want to do a lot of the work themselves, and would suit a kitchen or bathroom fitter very well.
There are some issues with an excess of choice as pointed out by another reviewer, but I felt that this was useful rather than a hindrance. I found it useful and would recommend it.

This really was a godsend as our youngest son is currently in the process of renovating my late mother-in-law's house prior to it going on the market. As he is a joiner this was invaluable to him in desinging the bathroom and kitchen. Once he had plans of what he was doing he could go and order all his stuff with ease as he knew exactly where everything would fit and how it would look. Recommended for nayone currently in the proces of renovating either of these two rooms.

Fans of the Grand Designs TV series may enjoy playing with this software but I don't think many people will use it seriously to design their next kitchen or bathroom. It is certainly very good at what it does, probably too good, and is also great fun to use, but most people will find it far too complex and detailed for their needs.

Most people thinking of having a new kitchen or bathroom fitted will expect the company doing the work to provide illustrations featuring the company's own products and the customer's own kitchen or bathroom. If you are doing the work yourself a sketch pad, tape measure and a bit of imagination will probably be a lot easier than faffing about with this product.

Grand Designs 3D Bathroom & Kitchen is part of a CAD series from the Grand Designs team which offer competition to the 3D range from Arcon. If you really are seriously thinking about CAD projects for the home then check the Arcon range as well as both have their pluses, although Grand Designs may just have the edge.

One annoying aspect of this software is the one user licence; this is so strictly applied that even on a multi user PC only one person can access the programme. So when loading make sure to give the access rights to the correct user! I have deducted a star for this as my wife wanted to be able to do some designing as well but she can only do so as me. So I'll give it four stars as those who will want to use it will find a lot of fun here, but it is not really for the average person thinking of home improvements.
